HGV Training in Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton sits at one of the most significant road junctions in the country. The M6, M54 and M5 all converge within a few miles of the city centre, making it a natural hub for freight movement between the North West, the Midlands, the South West and Wales. For drivers looking to qualify in one of the UK’s most active logistics regions, Wolverhampton is a strong place to do it.
Drivers based in Wolverhampton can access HGV training through our network.
What the licence gives you
Cat C covers rigid vehicles over 3.5 tonnes — the type used across retail delivery, construction supply, manufacturing logistics and public sector haulage. Cat C+E is the articulated lorry licence, covering combination vehicles and opening access to trunk routes, national freight contracts and third-party logistics operations. Both qualifications are held for life and recognised across the UK.
The West Midlands has one of the densest concentrations of logistics employers in the country. Distribution centres, manufacturing supply chains, construction haulage and waste management operations all run through Wolverhampton and the wider conurbation. Qualified drivers here are not short of options.
How the process works
Before practical training begins, you will need a provisional licence for the category you are applying for. If that is not yet in place, we will tell you exactly what is required before anything else moves forward. The sequence from there is theory test, medical, practical training and your driving test — we coordinate all of it, including Driver CPC initial qualification for those taking their first licence in that category.
Timelines depend on your course choice, your existing driving experience and test availability in your area. We give you an honest, accurate picture at the outset — not a figure that shifts as you progress through the process.
Courses available
We offer Cat C, Cat C+E, Cat C1 and Cat C1+E. For drivers who want to extend their employability from the start, ADR covers the carriage of hazardous goods and HIAB covers loader crane operation — both are in active demand from operators across the Midlands’ construction, manufacturing and energy sectors. Pass Protection gives you an additional test attempt and preparation time if it is needed.
After you qualify
We include CV support and job referral assistance as part of the package. The West Midlands has a broad range of operators — from national retailers with major distribution operations to specialist hauliers serving the region’s manufacturing base. If you need help identifying roles and presenting your new licence to employers, that support is available from the start.
