HGV Training in Stoke-on-Trent
Stoke-on-Trent has always been a working city, and its logistics profile reflects that. The A500 cuts through the conurbation and feeds directly onto the M6 — one of the UK’s principal freight routes, connecting the Midlands to Manchester, the North West and beyond. Stoke sits squarely on that corridor, and the distribution and manufacturing operations in and around the city create solid, year-round demand for qualified HGV drivers.
HGV training is accessible to drivers based in Stoke-on-Trent through our network.

The licence and what it opens up
Cat C covers rigid vehicles over 3.5 tonnes — used across retail logistics, construction supply, manufacturing distribution and public sector haulage. Cat C+E extends that to articulated combinations, which gives you access to trunk routes, national freight contracts and third-party logistics operations. Both qualifications are held for life and recognised across the UK.
Stoke’s position on the M6 means that once you are qualified, you are not limited to local roles. The Midlands, Manchester, the North West and the wider national network are all within straightforward reach for drivers based here.
How training works
The starting point is a provisional licence for the category you are applying for. If you do not already have one, we will explain exactly what is needed before anything else is arranged. The sequence from there runs through theory test, medical, practical training and your driving test — we coordinate all of it, including Driver CPC initial qualification for those who need it as part of their first full licence.
Timelines depend on the course you choose, your existing experience and test availability in your area. We give you a clear, accurate picture from the start of the conversation.
Courses available
We offer Cat C, Cat C+E, Cat C1 and Cat C1+E. For drivers who want to strengthen their position with employers from the outset, ADR covers the carriage of hazardous goods and HIAB covers loader crane operation — both are valued by operators across the North Midlands’ manufacturing, construction and energy sectors. Pass Protection provides an additional test attempt and preparation time if it is needed.
After qualifying
We include CV support and job referral assistance as part of the package. Stoke has resident operators across distribution, construction and waste management, and the M6 puts the wider Midlands and North West job market within easy reach. If you want help identifying roles or presenting your licence to employers, that support is available.
