The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is an essential qualification to have, as legislation which took place in 2009 states that it is a must for many drivers who are using their licence to work – as without it they would be breaking the law. Here at The LGV Training Company, we not only provide thorough LGV and HGV Training services but also can ensure that you have your CPC qualification before commencing work.
Not every single working driver is required to take the Driver CPC however, as the legislation only applies to drivers that passed their CAR test AFTER January 1997. (Note: The law doesn’t take into account when you gained your LGV or HGV licence, but only your initial car test). If you passed your CAR test BEFORE January 1997 and have a C1 or 7.5 Ton entitlement on your licence, there is no need to take the initial Driver CPC qualification and training but will only need to undertake the Periodic Training which applies to ALL working drivers and is required to take place every 5 years.
So if you did in fact pass your car test after 1997 and intend to work as an LGV or HGV driver, The LGV Training Company can promptly have you in line with the law. The qualification itself comprises of 2 modules (Module 2 and Module 4), the first of which is a case study/theory test and the latter being a 30-minute practical demonstration.
Further information of the qualification and periodic training is available by calling us free on 0800 0744 007 and can be provided in addition to all LGV or HGV Training advice. Once again, if you passed your car test after January 1997 and the CPC qualification is mandatory, get in touch with us today to book the training.
