What sort of job can I expect as an HGV driver?

Work for HGV drivers is varied in the UK. Popular roles are;

-Car transporter driver
-Refrigerated vehicle driver
-Retail multi-drop delivery driver
-Heavy Haulage driver (e.g. delivering aircraft or engine parts)
-Docks container lorry driver
-Removals driver
-Supermarket delivery driver
-International long-haul driver

What sort of wages can I expect to earn as an HGV driver?

Newly qualified Category C drivers can expect to earn £25k a year as a starting wage, which usually increases relatively quickly with experience. Promotions are common, particularly if your Employer can see that you’re a dedicated and trustworthy worker.

Drivers who have just gained a Category C+E qualification have an average starting salary of £30k when they’re new in the role. Many C+E drivers gain additional licences and tickets which allow them to really specialise in their work and go for the higher earning potential of, for example, a petroleum tanker driving job.
