Allport strikes deal with House of Fraser

Allport has been awarded a three-year inbound logistics contract with fashion retailer House of Fraser.

Under the terms of the deal, which starts in March 2012, Allport will manage the retailer’s supply chain, which will see the majority of stock coming in via Felixstowe.

The logistics firm will transport the containers to an East Midlands facility before trunking the merchandise to DHL’s Wellingborough warehousing facility.

At peak, Allport expects to be making between 100 to 150 drops a day to Wellingborough.

DHL, which was awarded an £85m contract extension with House of Fraser in August, will then transport the stock to the retailer’s 62 UK locations.

Mark Holland, executive supply chain director at House of Fraser, says: “Our business is advancing in international retailing and our supply chain needs to be suitably adaptive and resilient.

“Allport, with their extensive retail experience, were the ideal choice to support us.”

In September, supermarket group J Sainsbury’s extended its freight management contract with Allports for two more years.
