On August 12, One Direction was front and center for the Olympics closing ceremony, arriving at the extravagant set that looked like a London roundabout via a flat bed truck.
The boy group, often known simply as 1D, includes Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. These five talents, who were made on TV during the British version of “X Factor” only a couple of years ago, were the youngest entertainers on stage Sunday at Olympic Stadium.
Since their small screen debut, these particular entertainers have become superstars, so much so that when the lot entered the now familiar venue, the guys were greeted with near hysteria as shouts and screams welcomed One Direction to join the party, courtesy the Olympics 2012.
The group sang their big hit, “What Makes You Beautiful,” while rolling along through the crowded stage, smiling and clapping and leading the entire stadium in a mass singalong.
And so, as One Direction finally arrived at Olympics 2012 closing ceremony, the boys belted out their big number as the whole arena went bananas for the music made by Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry, and Louis.
