New Careers That Could Be Yours With a Licence Upgrade

Its June, and you know what that means? We’re officially halfway through the year! The time has flown by, and it’s left many people reviewing their new year’s resolutions. Did you ever get that new job? Look into that new licence so you can earn more money this year? If you didn’t manage it, this is the post for you! Because it’s not too late. You can still start your journey to a new career, and we’re here to help. So today, we have 4 new careers that only require a simple licence upgrade for you to achieve.

Delivery Driver

Of course, it’s not all about getting away from home. Sometimes you just need a job that means you can get out and about, delivering things from one place to another while still getting to sleep in your own bed every night. Perfect for someone with a family they want to spend time with. Upgrade to a Cat C1 licence and you’ll be able to choose one of the many delivery driving jobs in your area, delivering goods to individuals and businesses in your local areas and completing several different types of task a day for a lot of different businesses.

Tour Guide / Minibus Driver

What could be better than getting to see the sights, and get paid for it? As a tour guide driver, you can spend your days transporting tourists around the sights, or driving groups from place to place. You could be driving in urban or picturesque areas, or you could be responsible for transport for schools, accessibility vehicles or even hospitals. All you need to do is upgrade from a Cat B to a Cat D1 licence. There are few jobs better than this.

HGV Driver

This is your bread and butter career – an HGV driver. This means you can drive any heavy good vehicle anywhere in the country or beyond. HGV drivers can drive long distances, and even get to travel overseas as part of their job. It’s not the most glamorous, but it does have some pretty nice perks. If you’re not really a ‘people person’, this option is perfect as you don’t need to transport passengers (only goods) and don’t necessarily speak to many people in your day to day life. And you’ll never have trouble finding a job. The job market is clamouring for more qualified drivers to fill over 10,000 open jobs across the country.

Coach Driver

While trains and planes remain relatively expensive ways to travel, coaches have a surprisingly large reach when it comes to alternative transport. Coach drivers who’ve upgraded their Cat B licence for a Cat D / PCV version will be able to work for companies taking customers from the UK to Spain, Italy, France, Germany and other holiday hotspots. Unlike a bus driver, a coach driver will tend to have long distance drives in-between stops, with passengers pre-booking in advance. So once you’ve got everyone on, all you need to do is drive. And get paid to do it, of course.

At The LGV Training Company, we work with individuals across Hampshire and Surrey to help then find their next career move.
