FairFuelUK shortlisted in prestigious PR awards

FairFuelUK (FFUK) has been shortlisted for the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Excellence Awards under the Public Affairs Campaign of the Year category.

The CIPR Excellence Awards, now in their 27th year, are the most credible in the PR profession.

“To make the CIPR Excellence Awards shortlist is a statement of achievement for any individual or organisation,” says Jane Wilson, CIPR CEO. “The sheer number of high quality entries received this year, especially when things are still pretty tough out there economically, is testament to a thriving industry. There really is no greater recognition of professionalism, creativity and hard work than to reach the final stages of the Excellence Awards.”

FFUK is up against five other contenders in the Public Affairs category, including Macmillan Cancer Support for its ‘Put the Fair into Welfare’ campaign and The Royal British Legion for a campaign to have the principles of the Military Covenant enshrined in law.

Launched in January 2011 by Peter Carroll, the FFUK campaign has lobbied tirelessly to persuade the government not to raise fuel duty and to date has attracted more than 256,000 signatures to its petition. With the support of the Road Haulage Association and the Freight Transport Association, FFUK has been responsible for averting 9ppl of extra fuel duty over the past 12 months and is currently working hard to table an amendment to the Finance Bill to get the planned 3p rise for August abandoned.

The winners will be announced at the Excellence Awards black-tie dinner in central London on Monday 28 May.
